Who we are

Formchime Themes (themes.formchime.com) is provided by Chang Han (張瀚), an individual based in Taiwan, under the brand Formchime. We are the controller for the data described here. Contact: support@formchime.com.

What this site collects

This is a static website. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers.

Your colour-scheme choice (light or dark) is stored in your browser’s localStorage only. It never leaves your device.

Region check (/api/region)

When a page with prices loads, your browser calls formchime.com/api/region so we can hide checkout where we do not sell (Japan) or where the region cannot be determined. That request necessarily sends your IP address to our server. The endpoint reads only the country code Cloudflare derives from your connection and returns it. It does not store your IP address or the country, and sets no cookies.

Checkout (/api/checkout) and Polar

When you click a buy button, formchime.com/api/checkout creates a checkout with Polar and passes your IP address to Polar for sales-tax calculation and fraud prevention. We do not keep the IP address. We also write your country code and the product key to the checkout metadata.

Polar Software Inc. is the merchant of record: you buy from Polar, and Polar processes your payment, tax, invoice and email data under its own privacy policy: polar.sh/legal/privacy. We never see your card details.

GitHub access

Themes are delivered as a private GitHub repository. Polar uses the GitHub username you provide at checkout to invite you to the repository, and removes access if a purchase is refunded. GitHub processes your account data under its own privacy statement.

Not sold in Japan; automated decision

Our themes are not sold to customers in Japan. Based on your connection’s country, we automatically decide whether checkout is offered. Checkout is blocked for Japan and whenever the region cannot be determined. No other personal evaluation is involved. If you think the decision is wrong, email support@formchime.com.

If an order is placed from Japan, we refund it in full and remove repository access. For this we keep the order ID, country and time only.

Cloudflare

formchime.com runs on Cloudflare. As our service provider (processor), Cloudflare processes connection data, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site. See cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

How long we keep data

Region check (IP, country): not stored.

IP at checkout: not stored by us (Polar: per its policy).

Purchase records: kept by Polar under its policy and legal retention requirements.

Billing exports we take from Polar: kept as our legal obligations require.

Worker logs: event name, order ID and technical status codes only (no IP address, email or license keys), kept up to 3 days by Cloudflare, then deleted automatically.

Theme preference: in your browser until you clear it.

International transfers

When you check out, your IP address and order data are sent to Polar in the United States; this is necessary to perform the purchase you request. Cloudflare processes data on its global network.

Your rights

Under Taiwan’s Personal Data Protection Act and other laws that apply to you (including the GDPR where applicable), you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to processing, or get a copy. Email support@formchime.com. For payment records we may forward your request to Polar. Records we must keep by law are retained for the legal period.
